Three parts of the puzzle.

The first came at the 2011 U.S. Open. The second was the 2012 PGA Championship. Both were eight-shot wins—a remarkable way to announce himself as a major champion.

At Royal Liverpool in 2014, he finished 17 under par to win The Open. A second PGA Championship followed that year. Only the Masters remained for the career Grand Slam.

A green jacket worth waiting for.

McIlroy won the 2025 Masters in a playoff with Justin Rose, becoming the sixth man to complete the modern career Grand Slam. In 2026, he won again at Augusta.

The career Grand Slam is not the same as winning all four majors in a single season. It rewards success across the four championships over time—and that long arc is part of what makes it compelling.

For a fan, the years between the trophies matter too. They turn a list of victories into a story about staying with the challenge.
